The Jambi Forest and Land Fire Task Force (Karhutla) is still working to extinguish a fire covering 50 hectares in Persiapan Air Merah Village, Muaro Jambi Regency. The Jambi Police Regional Office and the task force have been on site since Wednesday and have continued firefighting operations until Sunday.

Dirreskrimsus of the Jambi Police Regional Office Senior Commissioner Taufik Nurmandia said the fire is burning peatland with fire points scattered across multiple locations. To accelerate extinguishing efforts, three water-bombing helicopters have been deployed to the fire site.

A total of 300 personnel have been dispatched to speed up the firefighting process and ensure the fire does not spread, according to Jambi Provincial Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Head Bachyuni Deliansyah. Personnel in the field continue to extinguish points where embers remain and are cooling areas to prevent fire points from reappearing.

The Jambi Police Regional Office has established a police cordon around the area to secure the site and support the investigation process. As of now, the investigation is ongoing to determine the ownership of the burned land, whether it belongs to a company or the community.
