Researchers at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia have found that pediatric-onset rheumatic and inflammatory diseases have distinct genetic architecture compared with those that develop in adults. The findings were published in the journal Annals of the Rheumatic Diseases.
The discovery could pave the way for advances similar to those that have benefited adult patients with comparable conditions. These advances could include better disease classification and the development of precision therapies tailored to individual genetic profiles.
