Lionfish, a venomous invasive species, have become increasingly destructive to Caribbean reef ecosystems. In Honduras, divers are mounting efforts to control the population through hunting competitions and homemade spears.
Communities in the region have also begun incorporating lionfish into restaurant menus as part of a broader strategy to manage the species. The effort represents a local response to one of the Caribbean's most damaging invasive marine populations.
