Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Arifah Fauzi has emphasised the need to protect children's privacy and avoid stigmatising children following the discovery of weapons, narcotics and pornographic CDs/DVDs at a school in Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta. According to the minister, children should not become victims of problems for which they are not responsible.

"Children should not become victims of problems that are not their responsibility. Let us protect the privacy and psychological condition of children so they can still learn comfortably," said Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Minister Arifah Fauzi in Jakarta on Sunday. The minister expressed concern over the discovery of hundreds of weapons, narcotics and 25 pornographic CDs/DVDs in one of the school's rooms.

The minister hopes the school can ensure children continue to learn well and safely. Her office is also encouraging the school to conduct a thorough inspection of rooms and facilities and strengthen supervision to ensure the education environment remains safe and supports children's development.

South Jakarta Metro Police previously secured 995 airsoft guns comprising 776 revolver airsoft guns and 215 pistol airsoft guns from a school foundation warehouse in the Pondok Pinang area of Kebayoran Lama. Officers also secured four air rifles, one Francispa brand firearm, and four long gun barrels manufactured elsewhere, as well as two rolls suspected to be marijuana and one package suspected to be methamphetamine.

The minister called on all parties to respect the ongoing investigation process and entrust the case to police without prejudging the outcome of examination. "We respect the ongoing investigation process and entrust the case to police. We will not prejudge the legal process. However, the best interests of children remain our priority," said Minister Arifatul Choiri Fauzi.
