Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said PT Jakarta Transportation (Transjakarta) will manage maritime transport to the Thousand Islands region from 2027. Previously, maritime transport management was under the Jakarta Transportation Office (Dishub).

Pramono described the decision as a strategic effort to improve the transportation system between the mainland and the islands. He said residents of the Thousand Islands deserve access to and public transport facilities equal to those of residents in Jakarta's five administrative city regions.

At the same event at Bundaran HI on Sunday, Pramono also announced that the Jakarta LRT project on the Kelapa Gading-Manggarai route is targeted for inauguration in August 2026. The project, built entirely by the Jakarta Provincial Government, has a track length of approximately 12.2 kilometres with an investment value of around Rp12.1 trillion.

The LRT route will serve 11 stations with a travel time of 28 minutes. Pramono hopes the inauguration can be carried out by President Prabowo Subianto.
