A fire at the Badan Pendapatan Daerah (Bapenda, Regional Revenue Agency) building of Jakarta Province on Friday will not disrupt the tax system, but has affected traffic light controls in the capital. Governor Pramono Anung said the fire, believed to have originated on the 11th floor, spread to the 16th floor of the building.
The operational centre of the Traffic Control System (SPLL) of the Transportation Agency (Dishub) and the Command Centre that regulates traffic in Jakarta are located on the 16th floor of the building at Jalan Abdul Muis, Petojo Selatan, Gambir, Central Jakarta. As a result, the artificial intelligence (AI) system used for automatic traffic light controls is temporarily unable to operate.
Pramono said traffic lights will be controlled manually in the coming days. He has instructed Dishub to anticipate congestion at intersections by placing personnel at locations prone to traffic buildup.
Regarding tax data, Pramono assured that there will be no significant impact because Jakarta's tax system has been digitalized. The burnt building housed about 1,000 civil servants (ASN) of Jakarta. The civil servants will be placed at their respective sub-office locations, with some being moved to a new building in Cikini, while others work from home or other locations.
