Transjakarta has launched a special route service connecting Senayan Roundabout with Ancol in North Jakarta. Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said the route operates every Car Free Day on Sundays with a fare of Rp3,500, though on its inaugural launch on Sunday (9/8) at HI Roundabout, a special fare of only Rp1 was offered.
Jakarta Transportation Agency Head Budi Awaluddin explained that the service is a satellite service operating only on Sundays during Car Free Day implementation. The route runs from 06:00 to 10:00 WIB and connects Senayan Roundabout with Symphony of the Sea Roundabout in the Ancol area, covering a distance of approximately 34.9 kilometres with a journey time of around 142 minutes for one trip.
The service uses seven EV High-Deck electric buses with arrival schedules every 15 to 20 minutes. The route covers Jalan Jenderal Sudirman, Jalan MH Thamrin, Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat, Jalan Ir. H Juanda, Jalan Gunung Sahari, Jalan RE Martadinata, and Jalan Ancol with 18 stops.
Budi said the special route aims to provide an alternative public transport option for people engaging in activities during Car Free Day so they do not need to use private vehicles. The Jakarta Provincial Government also provides free entry to Ancol for Transjakarta passengers using the service, with buses able to enter the area directly without passengers needing to pay an entrance ticket.
Awaluddin hopes the special route will make it easier for people travelling to Ancol before or after Car Free Day activities, while also providing passengers with access to explore various areas within the area.
