Prosecutors received a report of the discovery of four bodies of members of one family who were previously reported missing, according to an official statement. The bodies showed signs of death from gunshot wounds.
Prosecutors conducted an investigation at the scene, examined the bodies and ordered autopsies. Investigators also tracked the victims' movements through surveillance cameras and identified a family friend as the suspect. The suspect was arrested on the prosecutor's orders.
During interrogation, the suspect admitted to killing his friend with premeditation because the friend refused to lend him money, according to a prosecutor's statement. The suspect explained that he planned the murder to take over the victim's money and gold jewellery.
Prosecutors stated that the suspect took his friend to the Qattamiya area and shot him three times, causing his death. The suspect then took the house keys and dumped the body on a desert road.
The suspect then lured the victim's wife and two daughters by spreading false information about a road accident that had befallen their father, with the aim of emptying the house to steal from it. Prosecutors said the suspect shot the mother and two girls five times inside a car, causing their deaths. The suspect then went to the family home but was prevented from committing theft when blocked by the property guard.
Prosecutors ordered the suspect's temporary detention and referred him for trial at the criminal court immediately.
