The Jakarta provincial government (Pemprov) has decided to demolish the old pedestrian bridge (JPO) that went viral under the name "Love-Hate Relationship" in the Jalan HR Rasuna Said area, Jakarta. Governor Pramono Anung said the demolition would be completed by October 2026 at the latest, with a target completion date of September 2026.

Pramono explained that the demolition process must first go through asset administration procedures since the JPO is an asset owned by the Jakarta provincial government. The asset must be recorded and processed through the Jakarta Regional Asset Management Agency (BPAD) before demolition work begins. Pramono assured that the demolition would be carried out without disrupting traffic flow in the surrounding area.

Jakarta Dinas Bina Marga (City Planning and Roads Agency) head Heru Suwondo explained that after the asset administration process is completed, the next stage would be the tendering of the demolition work. Heru assured that the physical demolition work could be completed within approximately two to three weeks after the BPAD's tender process is finished. Demolition work, like other JPOs, will be carried out at night.

The reason for demolishing the JPO is related to accessibility issues for people with disabilities. Based on direct inspection results, the JPO was deemed not disability-friendly because there is a height difference between the JPO access and the surrounding area, making it difficult for people with disabilities to use the facility.

The Love-Hate Relationship JPO went viral because it is located next to an LRT JPO in the same area. However, the two JPOs are only adjacent to each other but are not connected to one another.
