The Jakarta provincial government will implement a special rate of one rupiah for all public transport on August 17. This policy is a gift to the capital's residents as part of marking the 81st anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia's Independence Day.

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said the special rate applies to all transport managed by the Jakarta provincial government. "All transport on August 17, which is managed by the Jakarta provincial government, costs only one rupiah," Pramono said at Bundaran HI, Jakarta, on Sunday.

According to Pramono, the policy is intended to bring festivity to the commemoration of Indonesia's Independence Day anniversary while providing convenience for residents to travel using public transport. "I have decided to give all transport on August 17 which is managed by the Jakarta provincial government as a gift," he said.
