Trackhouse Aprilia rider Raul Fernandez won the British MotoGP held at Silverstone Circuit on Sunday (16/8). Fernandez led from the first lap and managed to pull away from the rest of the field.

The victory came after Fernandez experienced disappointment in the sprint race session beforehand. Despite starting from second position, the Spanish rider crashed and failed to complete the sprint race.

That frustration then drove Fernandez to understand his motorcycle's characteristics better. During the morning warm-up session, Fernandez said he was angry with himself and pushed his bike hard, which helped him find the limit of his rear tyre performance in the 1 minute 58.4 to 1 minute 58.5 second range.

"Today's race was about mentality," said Fernandez. He added that the challenge he faced was not just about tyres but also fuel management from the first lap.

The Silverstone victory placed Fernandez sixth in the provisional championship standings with 184 points, while Jorge Martin, who finished second, maintained the lead with 240 points. Fernandez recently extended his contract with Trackhouse for two years.
