The Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG) closed at 6,356 in Monday afternoon trading, weakening by 44.28 points or 0.69 per cent from the previous close. Trading volume reached Rp18.19 trillion with 46.95 billion shares traded, according to RTI Infokom.
Of around 796 listed shares, 287 advanced, 329 declined, and 180 were flat. Nine of 11 sector indices weakened, with the primary consumer goods sector leading losses at 1.15 per cent, while the transportation sector led gains with a plus 6.1 per cent.
Regionally, most Asian stock exchanges moved higher, including Hong Kong's Hang Seng Composite up 1.05 per cent, Singapore's Straits Times plus 1.05 per cent, China's Shanghai Composite plus 0.67 per cent, and Japan's Nikkei 225 up 2.08 per cent. European exchanges showed mixed movement with Germany's DAX strengthening 0.27 per cent while Britain's FTSE 100 weakened 0.25 per cent.
US stock exchanges overall moved higher, with the S&P 500 strengthening 0.62 per cent, NASDAQ Composite plus 1.30 per cent, and Dow Jones up 0.28 per cent.
