Residents of Cikolelet Village in Banten have revived the Ngagurah Dano tradition in the Cidanau River on Sunday (9 August 2026). The mass fish-catching activity involved local people using bare hands and traditional fishing tools.
This tradition, typically conducted during the dry season, represents the community's gratitude for the preservation of nature and the abundance of water sources. The activity is also part of efforts to preserve the local wisdom inherent to the village.
By reviving the Ngagurah Dano tradition, Cikolelet Village is developing this local wisdom into a cultural tourism attraction for visitors.
