The Women's Africa Cup of Nations final is being held tonight in Rabat, with Malawi and Cameroon facing off in what organizers describe as a historic matchup. The tournament has drawn growing attention to women's sports across the continent, though gaps persist in how the competitions are covered and supported compared with men's football.

Speaking to FRANCE 24, sports journalist Charlotte Richardson noted the increasing popularity of women's sport, but said media coverage, funding and infrastructure remain substantially lower than for men's competitions. Richardson pointed to the tournament's last-minute postponement earlier this year as an example of disparities in how women's and men's football are treated, saying a similar delay would be unlikely in men's competitions.
