Jonny Lomax announced Tuesday he will retire at the end of the 2026 Super League season. The St Helens legend, who has not featured since fracturing his jaw in the club's June defeat to Warrington Wolves, made 388 appearances for the club.

Lomax won five Grand Finals, one Challenge Cup and a World Club Challenge with St Helens. He earned four caps for Great Britain and 11 for England, including a World Cup final appearance against Australia in 2017.

In an Instagram post, Lomax said he would retire at age 36 after achieving "far more than I could ever have imagined" over his 20-year career. He said he had represented and captained his hometown club and achieved "the pinnacle" by representing England and Great Britain.

"I will retire grateful for the life the game has given me, knowing I have given it everything I could," he wrote.
