The Affair was Just the Beginning is the latest Korean drama featuring Kim Hye-soo as a successful married couple alongside Kim Ji-hoon. Cho Yeo-jeong also appears in this drama, which tells of domestic turmoil leading to dark secrets, a closed murder case, and extortion threats.

The story focuses on the life of Park Kyung-hee (Kim Hye-soo), a famous influencer and CEO of an interior design company obsessed with pursuing greater success. In the eyes of the public, Kyung-hee builds a warm family image with her husband, Lim Jae-hong (Kim Ji-hoon), an actor living in the shadow of his wife's prominent name.

To develop her business, Kyung-hee attempts to get close to her neighbour, Ahn Soo-jung (Cho Yeo-jeong), a dermatologist who could potentially help secure a major investment. Meanwhile, Soo-jung is caught in a fierce dispute over child custody with her ex-husband, Joo Bo-sung (Kim Jae-chul).

The crisis begins when Kyung-hee hears a rumour that Jae-hong is having an affair. After following her husband, Kyung-hee instead discovers something far more terrifying: Jae-hong is attempting to move a corpse. The situation becomes even more dire when it is revealed that their daughter, Lim Ye-ji (Jeon Si-hyun), is involved in the death of the victim.

To protect their family's reputation and business, Kyung-hee and Jae-hong agree to conceal the incident by burying the victim's body in their garden. However, that same night, they receive a mysterious message on their phones informing them that the entire burial process has been recorded on camera. The drama is directed by Lee Chang-hee with a script by Jung Eun-kyeong and Park Soo-rin. The series has eight episodes and begins airing on 31 July on Viu.
