The Meteosat Third Generation-Imager 2 (MTG-I2) satellite is prepared for launch aboard an Ariane 6 rocket from Europe's Spaceport in French Guiana. Liftoff is scheduled for 27 August 2026 at 22:10 CEST, or 17:10 local time.

MTG-I2 will join two other Meteosat Third Generation satellites already in orbit as part of the constellation operated by Eumetsat, the European meteorological satellite organization. The satellite will deliver high-resolution weather imagery for forecasting across Europe.

The mission is designed to provide European weather services with new data products and capabilities, particularly for predicting severe weather events in the short term.
