Dallas rapper BigXthaPlug was arrested in Texas on charges of driving while intoxicated, marijuana possession and illegal possession of a firearm. Allen County Police confirmed to BBC Newsbeat that the 28-year-old, whose real name is Xavier Landum, was stopped on Friday.
He was held in Collin County Jail and later released. The rapper, who makes southern hip-hop, trap and country-rap music, is known for viral singles including Texas, The Largest, and Mmhmm.
He was due to perform at Country Rising festival on Friday, but organisers said he would no longer perform "due to a personal emergency". Videos on social media showed BigXthaPlug performing at the Iowa State Fair on Saturday as scheduled, where he said: "They didn't think I was coming."
This arrest comes as BigXthaPlug remains on bail following charges of unlawful possession of a weapon and marijuana possession filed against him in August last year. That case continues. He performed at Wireless Festival in the UK in 2025 and was preparing to release new music.
