PT Pertamina recorded positive performance in its decarbonisation programme in the first half of 2026. The company said carbon emissions reduction reached 118 per cent, exceeding the target set in the 2026 Company Work and Budget Plan (RKAP).
Pertamina Vice President of Corporate Communications Muhammad Baron said the decarbonisation programme is part of the company's initiative to implement Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) across all business lines. Baron stated that Pertamina is committed to implementing ESG in accordance with global standards and supporting the government's target to achieve net zero emissions by 2060.
Pertamina's low-carbon business performance during January-June 2026 reached 101 per cent of the RKAP target. Baron said this success was supported by major programmes such as bioethanol, biofuel, and energy efficiency. Other ESG programmes including sustainable procurement and community empowerment also showed positive performance with an overall achievement of 102 per cent.
Baron affirmed that Pertamina's achievement in implementing integrated ESG has strengthened its position as the world's number one ESG-rated company in the Integrated Oil and Gas sub-industry. Pertamina is also serving as a reference for other companies in implementing integrated ESG.
As part of its global commitment, Pertamina actively participates in the Oil and Gas Decarbonization Charter (OGDC) 2026. The company regularly evaluates its carbon emissions reduction performance through OGDC initiatives.
