The owner of the SixNine padel court in Bandung has been fined 100 million rupiah and ordered to plant 1,000 trees as punishment for felling 10 trees to install a video screen. Environment Minister Jumhur Hidayat said environmental supervisors from the ministry, together with the Bandung City Government, have conducted summons, field verification and clarification with the business owner.
Jumhur stated that the business owner has admitted to illegally felling trees to install the video screen in front of the building. In addition to paying the fine, the business owner has also committed to planting protective trees measuring 5 metres at the felling site. The video screen has also been sealed by the Bandung City Government, witnessed by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, as it did not have a permit for the advertisement installation.
The Ministry of Environment and Forestry also found other violations by the company. The violations include the absence of a wastewater treatment facility, failure to explain the source of raw water and water balance, and the closure of public drainage channels at the rear of the building. Minister Jumhur said these violations would be subject to administrative sanctions and compulsory enforcement by the ministry.
