A joint team from Metro Jaya Police, Tangerang City Metro Police, and Benda Police Station arrested the suspect in the murder of a 21-year-old young woman with the initials SNA in Jurumudi Baru, Benda, Tangerang City. AKP Iwan Heries Setiawan, Head of Public Relations at Tangerang City Metro Police, confirmed the arrest.
Based on preliminary questioning, the suspect is believed to have entered the victim's rented room with the intention of stealing valuables. "From the results of preliminary interrogation, the suspect committed this act by entering the rented room to take items belonging to the victim," said Iwan on Tuesday.
The case came to light after the victim's fiancé, Anton, returned home from work and found SNA dead in her rented room. Anton asked two other witnesses for help to confirm the victim's condition before the room's owner, Else, reported the incident to Benda Police Station.
From the crime scene examination, police found a wound on the victim's neck that pointed to suspicions of murder. Investigators are still looking into the complete sequence of events in the murder, and the case is being handled jointly with the Criminal Investigation Division of Metro Jaya Police.
"The results of the complete examination regarding detailed sequence of events and case handling are still awaiting further investigation by the Criminal Investigation Division of Metro Jaya Police," said Iwan.
