The Corruption Eradication Commission conducted searches at 15 house locations in the extortion case involving inactive Pemalang regent Anom Widiyantoro. KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo said the searches took place from Wednesday 5 August to Saturday 8 August.
The search locations included ten houses in Pemalang, two houses in Tegal, two houses in Pekalongan, and one house in Semarang. "Investigators conducted a series of search activities at fifteen house locations of parties suspected to be connected with the case in question," said Prasetyo.
KPK investigators seized a number of documents related to projects at the Pemalang Regency Public Works and Spatial Planning Office, as well as electronic evidence in the form of mobile phones and electronic files. The investigative team also seized CCTV recordings from a hotel in Magelang.
KPK named Anom as a suspect in the extortion case after arresting him in a raid operation at a hotel in Jakarta. Acting KPK Investigation Director Achmad Taufik Husein said 21 people were detained in the operation.
KPK investigators discovered money totalling Rp2.7 billion in searches and raid operations, including cash of Rp300 million from the house of Mohamad Haris, Rp80 million from a "media house," Rp670 million in an account under Haris's name which was suspected to be a collection account, and Rp451 million in a suitcase in Anom's car that was seized in Jakarta. KPK is considering expanding the case in the direction of graft charges.
