Development bank-backed transition minerals projects are frequently associated with significant environmental, social, and human rights risks, according to a report by the International Accountability Project, an international advocacy organization.

The IAP analyzed 77 projects approved globally between 2023 and 2025, producing findings compiled in the Transition Minerals Finance Tracker, an interactive tool tracking development bank involvement in the sector.
