The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) conducted a series of raids last week in Bengkulu and Rejang Lebong in connection with an investigation into alleged corruption involving suspended Rejang Lebong regent M Fikri Thobari. KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo said the raids were carried out from Wednesday to Friday at three locations, two of which were in Bengkulu and one in Rejang Lebong.

The raided locations included the private residence of the Secretary of the Bengkulu City Regional House of Representatives and the home of the Head of the Food Security Agency of Bengkulu Province. A third location raided was a private premises in Rejang Lebong. During the raids, the KPK seized documents and electronic items believed to be related to the case.

The KPK has issued a general investigation order to further develop the case involving Fikri, but no suspects have been named at this stage. The previous Friday, the KPK also questioned eight witnesses at the office of the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) representative for Bengkulu Province.

According to KPK Deputy for Enforcement and Execution Asep Guntur Rahayu, regent Fikri is alleged to have received a total of Rp1.7 billion in bribes from several projects. The case began when the Rejang Lebong Regency Government was planning several projects in early 2026, including projects under the Public Works, Spatial Planning, and Public Housing Service of Rejang Lebong Regency with a total budget of Rp91.13 billion.

Asep explained that alleged bribes worth Rp980 million for project advances were given in stages through intermediaries, with varying amounts from three different parties. In addition, there are allegations of other payments to Fikri valued at Rp775 million, and these acts are alleged to have been carried out repeatedly.
