Batik artisans at a production center have developed natural dyes processed from farm waste such as onion skins and several types of leaves.
Artisans said the resulting colors tend to be softer than synthetic dyes, with tonal variation influenced by soaking time.
The development was carried out alongside university researchers who assisted with colorfastness testing.
The production center plans to market a dedicated natural-dye line starting next season.
