The French Football Federation announced on Thursday the full coaching staff that will accompany Zinédine Zidane in his role as national team manager, succeeding Didier Deschamps. Zidane's technical team is notably larger than his predecessor's, comprising six distinct collaborators with specific responsibilities.
The most significant appointment is Fabien Barthez as goalkeeper coach. Zidane and Barthez were teammates in the French squad that won the 1998 World Cup and the 2000 European Championship. More than two decades later, the two are reuniting in their new roles with Les Bleus.
The remainder of the coaching staff draws heavily on collaborators Zidane worked with at Real Madrid. David Bettoni, Zidane's longtime assistant, returns alongside him after sharing the Madrid bench, while Hamidou Msaidie joins as an assistant coach. Grégory Dupont, who will serve as strategic and performance advisor, returns to the French federation after previously working as fitness coach under Deschamps during the 2018 World Cup title before later joining Zidane at Real Madrid.
Farid Tabet will serve as assistant coach and video analyst, and Clément Ybert as assistant video analyst, completing the technical structure focused on tactical analysis.
