Lamine Yamal scored twice as Barcelona defeated Valencia 5-0 on Sunday to maintain their perfect record in La Liga. Fermín López, Raphinha and Pedri also scored for Hansi Flick's side at Mestalla.

Barcelona moved three points clear at the top of La Liga after Real Madrid lost 1-0 at Real Betis on Friday. The reigning champions remained the only top-flight team to win their opening four matches.

Yamal opened the scoring in the sixth minute with a lofted finish after Fermín López provided the pass. López added Barcelona's second in the 22nd minute, with Raphinha making it 3-0 from close range in the second half. Pedri scored Barcelona's fourth before Yamal completed the rout with the fifth goal. Barcelona defender Eric García left the field injured in the first half after a collision with teammate Rodri.

Flick said after the match: "We played a fantastic game, it was nearly perfect, we controlled, we were dominant." He cautioned against complacency, adding: "We have to go a long, long way."

In Germany, Augsburg climbed to the top of the Bundesliga following a 4-1 comeback win at Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday. Trailing 1-0 at halftime, Arijon Ibrahimovic equalized for Augsburg within a minute of the restart, with Robin Fellhauer putting them ahead moments later. Alexis Claude-Maurice and Fabian Rieder added further goals to secure the victory.

Mainz also won decisively, defeating Hamburg 5-0 to reach fifth place in the Bundesliga. Hamburg remained bottom of the table without a goal from their opening two matches. Augsburg led the Bundesliga on goal difference, level on points with Freiburg, Borussia Dortmund and Elvesberg, who all had two wins from their opening matches.
