Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi visited Jakarta from August 20 to 22, where officials launched a new Comprehensive Strategic Dialogue between the two nations. The visit included a second round of the 2+2 dialogue mechanism between the countries' foreign and defense ministers.

During his time in the Indonesian capital, Wang Yi also held a separate meeting with Indonesia's top economic official, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan. The diplomatic engagement underscored Beijing's efforts to deepen strategic and economic ties with the Southeast Asian nation.
