The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service issued a public health alert on Aug. 8 for meat and poultry products containing FDA-regulated jalapeños that have been recalled due to possible salmonella contamination.

The alert covers products made with the recalled peppers. Consumers who have purchased affected items were advised to take precautions.
