Negotiations on emissions rules for international shipping have entered a final round after delegates agreed on a basic framework for reporting mechanisms.
Remaining points include deadlines for low-carbon fuel adoption on intercontinental commercial vessels and transition arrangements for older fleets.
Several island nations pushed for tighter deadlines, while some countries with large fleets requested longer transition periods.
The secretariat said a final text is targeted for the next session, with a periodic review mechanism every few years.
