PSV Eindhoven defender Ryan Flamingo regrets the blunder that allowed Ole Romeny to score as Fortuna Sittard held PSV to a 2-2 draw in the Dutch league on Sunday morning. Romeny's goal came in the 42nd minute and was a debut goal for his new club.
The error occurred when Flamingo made a careless header that was intended for PSV goalkeeper Matej Kovar. The weak header instead allowed Romeny, an Indonesian national team player, to gain possession and finish with a soft chip to the far corner.
Flamingo explained the incident, saying that there was a high ball that bounced and he intended to head it to the goalkeeper but the ball fell to Romeny's feet. He emphasised that it was purely a mistake and focused on the need to bounce back with 45 minutes of the match still remaining.
Flamingo made amends for his error by scoring an equalising goal in the 55th minute. PSV even took a 2-1 lead after Noah Fernandez scored in the 74th minute, but Fortuna forced a draw through a goal by Edouard Minchut in the second half's injury time.
