Persebaya Surabaya made history as champions of the 2026 Presidential Cup. The title is the Green Giant's first trophy in the prestigious pre-season competition and adds to the list of clubs that have won the Presidential Cup since it was first held in 2015.
The Presidential Cup is a pre-season tournament featuring Indonesian football clubs and several guest teams from abroad. Since the first edition, Arema FC has remained the most successful club with four championship titles, followed by Persib Bandung, Persija Jakarta, Port FC, and now Persebaya Surabaya, each with one trophy.
Persib Bandung won the inaugural edition in 2015 after defeating Sriwijaya FC in the final. Arema FC then dominated the competition, winning titles in 2016, 2017, and 2022 by defeating Borneo FC, Persebaya Surabaya, and Borneo FC again respectively.
Persija Jakarta won the title in 2018 after defeating Bali United in the final match. In 2025, Port FC from Thailand became the first foreign club to win the Presidential Cup by defeating Oxford United from England in the final.
Persebaya's success in 2026 ended Arema FC's dominance and made Surabaya the newest Indonesian club to win the pre-season tournament. Arema FC still holds the record for most titles with four trophies.
