The Financial Services Authority (OJK) will establish a working group with several ministries, agencies and financial services industry players to accelerate and increase the effectiveness of financing for micro, small and medium enterprises (UMKM). The working group will involve the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, the Ministry of Cooperatives and UMKM, related ministries and agencies, as well as the financial services sector.

OJK's Chief Executive for Banking Supervision Dian Ediana Rae said the working group would serve as a forum to coordinate cross-ministry and agency policies at the UMKM Finance Summit 2026 in Jakarta on Tuesday (11/8). The working group will build an effective UMKM financing and empowerment ecosystem, and map cross-sector policies to identify synergy opportunities and regulatory barriers.

OJK noted that total UMKM financing from all financial services sectors reached Rp 1.948.72 trillion until June 2026, with annual growth of 2.18%. The capital market sector grew 12.25% annually, financing companies and microfinance institutions grew 7.03%, while banking grew 1.21%. However, financing is still dominated by the banking sector with a share of 82.44%, followed by non-bank financial institutions at 17.50% and capital markets at 0.06%.

According to OJK Board of Commissioners Chair Friderica Widyasari Dewi, developing the UMKM ecosystem and expanding financing access are OJK priorities. One of the policies being pursued is the implementation of OJK Regulation No. 19 of 2025 on Facilitating Access to Financing for UMKM, which encourages simplified financing processes while creating space for banks and non-bank financial institutions to provide easier, faster and more inclusive financing.

Minister of Cooperatives and UMKM Maman Abdurrahman said increased financing must be accompanied by ecosystem strengthening, particularly market access. According to him, financing that increases production capacity will not be optimal if UMKM actors do not have adequate markets, so UMKM sector growth must be viewed from all interconnected aspects.
