Lexunder Inc., operating as Food To Live of Brooklyn, New York, is recalling Food to Live brand green powder products because they may be contaminated with Salmonella. The bacteria can cause serious infections in young children, elderly people, and those with weakened immune systems, the company said.

Salmonella infection typically causes fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain in healthy people. In rare cases, the organism can enter the bloodstream and cause severe conditions such as infected aneurysms, endocarditis, and arthritis, according to the company.

The recalled products were sold nationwide through foodtolive.com, foodinbulk.com, and other online marketplaces in resealable pouches and bulk cases. The recall was initiated after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration informed the company that a retail sample of Food to Live Organic Supergreens Mix tested positive for Salmonella. The company has suspended production and distribution while the FDA and the company investigate the source of the contamination.

No illnesses have been reported to date. Consumers who have the products should not consume them and should dispose of the items or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact Lexunder Inc at (718) 717-1029, Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time, or at recall@foodtolive.com.
