Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung expressed hope that Persija Jakarta will win the league championship in the 2026/2027 season, presenting it as a gift for the capital's 500th birthday in 2027. The PDIP politician said Persija has the potential to claim the title, particularly after appointing coach Shin Tae-yong, who brings extensive experience to the role.

Speaking at a Bank Jakarta and Persija collaboration event in central Jakarta on Sunday, Pramono said he wanted to experience a league victory that would coincide with the city's historic milestone. He said Persija represents a source of pride for Jakarta's residents, and he hoped the bond between the club and its supporters would remain strong.

Pramono said supporting Persija is part of his effort to build a sense of ownership among the public toward Jakarta. He expressed a desire for Persija matches to be safe and comfortable for both players and supporters, framing the games as events that matter not just to the team but to families and the city itself.

Beyond pursuing Persija's sporting success, Pramono said he wants Jakarta to be recognized as a sports tourism destination. The provincial government plans to expand space for various sporting competitions and large-scale events.

Bank Jakarta Director Agus Haryoto Widodo said the collaboration with Persija is part of the bank's effort to draw closer to Jakarta residents. He said while a championship title may not be written into the contract with Persija, he believes the entire supporter base shares the goal of winning, especially at this historic moment for the city.
