Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso and AC Milan coach Ruben Amorim praised the atmosphere at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium (GBK) in Jakarta after both teams completed their pre-season friendly match. During the game, the roar of support from tens of thousands of spectators in the stands caught the attention of both managers.
Alonso said he was impressed by the support from Chelsea and AC Milan fans. The Spanish coach said the spectators' cheers created an authentic football atmosphere. "Their support was absolutely fantastic, the roaring after the match, even before kick-off," Alonso said at a press conference, adding that each team's end of the stands was very loud.
AC Milan's Ruben Amorim expressed similar appreciation. Despite his team losing to Chelsea, Amorim felt honoured by the warmth of the welcome from fans in Indonesia. "First of all, the fans here are absolutely incredible," Amorim said. "The support they gave us during these three days has been unbelievable," added the Portuguese coach.
The Chelsea versus AC Milan match ended in a 3-0 victory for The Blues. Two goals came from Joao Pedro, while Moises Caicedo scored one goal.
