AFF Semi-finals Guaranteed to Have No New Champion

The 2026 AFF Cup semi-finals are guaranteed to have no new champion as all four qualified teams have won the title before.

All four teams that have advanced to the 2026 AFF Cup semi-finals have won the title in previous editions, guaranteeing there will be no new champion in this tournament. The semi-final matchups will pit Singapore against Thailand and Malaysia against Vietnam.

Thailand has the best record with seven titles, followed by Singapore with four titles, Vietnam with three titles, and Malaysia with one title. Each team will fight to add to their respective trophy collections ahead of the final match.

Thailand performed most solidly in the group stage, securing four wins without any defeats. Vietnam claimed 10 points as Group A champions without losing a match, while Singapore accumulated eight points as Group B runners-up also without a loss.

Malaysia recorded nine points with three wins and one defeat. Singapore will host the first leg of the semi-final against Thailand on 15 August 2026, with the return match scheduled in Thailand on 18 August 2026.
