Perlindungan Bina Karya Harapan Mulia Social Care Facility (PSPBKHM) in West Jakarta held various competitions with 210 residents participating to commemorate the 81st anniversary of Indonesia's Independence on Wednesday.

The facility's head, Devi Riana Sumanthi, said the competitions were intended to celebrate the spirit of independence together with the residents. "We also hope that the residents feel that this facility is their home. So, even though they are living in the facility, they can still experience the festive atmosphere and spirit of independence," she said.

In addition to various competitions held on the basketball court, the facility also conducted a cleanliness competition between residential units of the residents. Sumanthi explained that this activity did not emphasise competitive aspects among participants, but rather aimed to build spirit and togetherness among the residents.

This activity is hoped to ease the longing of residents for their homes or families, particularly for those who no longer have family outside the facility. Winners will receive prizes in the form of food or equipment needed by the facility's residents.
