The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) celebrated its 25th anniversary in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, on September 1 with a ceremonial family photo of heads of state and government and the adoption of a two-page Bishkek Declaration.
The gathering drew 21 heads of state and government to the diplomatic milestone. Twenty-eight agreements were reached among the membership, including provisions on strengthening multilateral partnership in nuclear matters.
Despite the ceremonial trappings and formal agreements, the three leading member states pursued separate strategic priorities at the summit.
