The Family Welfare Empowerment Task Force (TP PKK) of Makassar City, South Sulawesi, conducted training on artificial intelligence (AI) use for female micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) entrepreneurs. The activity titled "Empowered Women: Artificial Intelligence Use for Female MSMEs" took place in Makassar on Tuesday, 11 August, with the aim of helping entrepreneurs improve their businesses through digital technology.
Faridah Kadir, Secretary of TP PKK Makassar City, said the training was designed to provide women with practical knowledge and skills in using AI. She stated that technological development should be seen as an opportunity to enhance creativity and expand business promotion more effectively. "We want the women not only to know about AI, but to be able to use it directly for their businesses," said Faridah.
The training is a work programme of Working Group II of TP PKK Makassar City, organised through collaboration with BASAibu Wiki-Sulsel and the Technology Lab of the Faculty of Education at Makassar State University. The activity specifically aims to improve participants' AI and digital literacy, create AI-based promotional content, design digital marketing materials, and devise more creative marketing strategies.
Faridah emphasised that the training is not merely an introduction, but ensures that technology can be used to support daily business activities. "Through this training, participants are guided to use AI for work that has been considered difficult, such as creating promotional ideas, writing captions, preparing marketing materials, and producing more attractive designs," she said.
Andi Indrawaty, head of Working Group II of TP PKK Makassar City, added that the direct practice method was chosen because most participants are female MSME entrepreneurs unfamiliar with digital technology. "If we just give them materials, the women might still be confused. So we practise directly," said Andi. She stressed that technological development should not be an obstacle for female MSME entrepreneurs, and with proper mentoring, technology can actually ease work and make promotion more attractive.
