The Hampton Grocers, Inc., based in Montauk, New York, is recalling eight-ounce packages of Lacnola Lactation Granola because of potential contamination with Salmonella. The organism can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, elderly people, and those with weakened immune systems, according to the company.

Healthy people infected with Salmonella typically experience fever, diarrhea, which may be bloody, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, the infection can spread into the bloodstream and cause more severe illnesses such as arterial infections, endocarditis and arthritis.

The recalled product was distributed nationwide through mail orders on thehamptongrocers.com and other online retailers, including Amazon, between October 21, 2025 and August 12, 2026. The granola is packaged in a pink eight-ounce stand-up pouch with UPC 850035324554. Lot codes and expiration dates appear on the back of the bags on the upper left side, printed in black ink.

The company suspended production after being notified by an ingredient supplier that a sample tested positive for Salmonella. The affected product contains organic moringa powder, an ingredient also used in the recalled granola. No illnesses have been reported in connection with the product to date.

Consumers who purchased the product are urged to dispose of it and contact their place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact the company at (201) 820-8789 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on Tuesdays through Thursdays. The FDA and the company are continuing their investigations into the contamination source.
