Hundreds of drones attacked Russia on Sunday (16/8) amid Russian missile operations targeting Ukraine. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin reported drone attacks lasted throughout the night in the capital, with air defence systems intercepting more than 600 drones.

Moscow Region Governor Andrey Vorobyov called the attack "one of the most massive drone attacks in recent memory." He added that six people were injured in his region, and a drone attack on Podolsk caused a fire at a Wildberries warehouse in the Koledino Industrial Zone.

Ukraine has been increasingly targeting warehouses belonging to online retailer Wildberries, with roughly 20 attacks on those facilities since mid-July. Ukrainian officials said the attacks were in response to Moscow's bombardment of Ukrainian cities and infrastructure.

Meanwhile, Russian missile attacks on Ukraine killed two people in Zaporizhzhia and Kryvyi Rig, the hometown of President Volodymyr Zelensky. More than 20 people were injured across several regions including Kyiv, Brovary, Kryvyi Rig, Odesa, and Dnipropetrovsk.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko urged residents to remain in shelters during the attacks.
