Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has affirmed that Israel rejects the 15-point plan from the Peace Council created by United States President Donald Trump for Gaza, and stated that Israeli military will not withdraw until the Hamas group fully disarms. "Israel rejects the 15-point document," Netanyahu said in a meeting of the Israeli Cabinet on Sunday (9/8).
"Israeli military will not carry out any troop withdrawal until Hamas fully disarms, and will continue to thwart threats to our forces and civilians," Netanyahu said. He added that Israel is speaking with the United States on this issue, but there has been no official response from the White House or Trump.
Netanyahu also pledged that as long as he is Israeli PM, there will be no Palestinian state, and Israel will not comply with the US-backed plan. He affirmed that Israel wants genuine disarmament, not false disarmament, meaning the elimination of all weapons, including light arms.
Despite Netanyahu's rejection of the peace plan, Hamas in a statement said it remains committed to fully implementing it and urged mediators and guarantor nations to carry out their responsibilities. Hamas political bureau member Bassemm Naim told AFP that mediators and guarantor parties from the US must pressure Netanyahu to comply with the plan and not obstruct the process.
Trump announced the agreement on 30 July, which includes the complete disarmament of Hamas and other armed groups in Gaza. The Peace Council, led by the US and established in February 2026 with around 40 member countries, proposed a 15-point plan for Gaza peace, including the disarmament of Hamas, military production sites, weapons depots, and the extensive tunnel network belonging to the organisation.
