Israeli security agencies are considering plans to withdraw some troops from Gaza and replace them with international stabilization forces (ISF), according to local media reports. Israeli Channel 12 reported that Israeli security officials have discussed the option over recent days as part of ceasefire follow-up measures.
Steps to establish the ISF have already begun, and Israel is reported to have approved the forces entering certain areas in Gaza. However, the report did not mention which specific areas received Israeli approval.
Israel had previously been reluctant to withdraw its forces despite a new agreement regarding Hamas disarmament. In an official statement, troop withdrawal would be carried out if disarmament by Palestinian factions is completed. However, Hamas stressed it will not comply with the agreement if Israel violates the regulations.
Israel has a history of violating ceasefires. Last week, following the Hamas disarmament agreement, Israel launched a massive attack on Gaza. The operation killed 26 people, including women and children.
Israel launched a military operation in Palestine in October 2023. During the operation, more than 73,000 people were killed, millions were displaced, and civilian facilities and homes were destroyed. Israel also imposed a total blockade on Gaza, preventing humanitarian aid from entering, and deployed troops throughout Gaza by establishing military bases there.
