Sony and Marvel's "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" is expected to lead the box office for its sixth consecutive weekend with approximately $22 million over the four-day frame. The Destin Daniel Cretton-directed film has crossed $900 million domestically, making it only the second film to reach that threshold behind 2015's "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," which holds the all-time domestic record at $936 million.
Globally, "Brand New Day" has surpassed $2.33 billion, placing it third all-time behind "Avatar" and "Avengers: Endgame" after passing "Avatar: The Way of Water." The film is expected to soon surpass "The Force Awakens" to become the all-time domestic leader.
Christopher Nolan's "The Odyssey," in its eighth weekend and also starring Tom Holland, is forecast to arrive in second place with approximately $16.4 million, bringing its domestic total to $588.1 million through Monday for Universal.
"Coyote vs. Acme" is expected to place third with $15 million over four days, representing a decline of around 27 percent from its $15 million opening the previous weekend. Warner Bros. Discovery had shelved the film before distributor Ketchup Entertainment released it following fan outcry.
Among new entries, Paramount's "By Any Means," a true-crime drama from filmmaker Elegance Bratton starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as an FBI agent investigating civil rights killings in 1960s Mississippi, is projected to earn around $9.2 million over four days. A24's "Onslaught," directed by Adam Wingard and starring Adria Arjona as a military veteran protecting her daughter from killer super soldiers, is expected to bring in approximately $2.3 million.
