Rob Reiner won the award for best guest actor in a comedy series at the 2026 Creative Arts Emmys for his role in The Bear, receiving the honor posthumously. Reiner and his wife, Michele, were found murdered in their Los Angeles home last December, and their son Nick has been charged in connection with the deaths and has pleaded not guilty.
Betty Gilpin took home the best guest actress in a comedy series award for her work in Apple's Widow's Bay. Gilpin's acceptance speech was delivered in poem form and included a greeting to her date, fellow actor Alison Brie.
Presenter Wendi McLendon-Covey noted the significance of Reiner's win as she introduced the award. "It's appropriate to stand for this one," she said, adding, "I know we all wish Rob could be here tonight." The audience gave the win a standing ovation.
Shailene Woodley won best guest actress in a drama series for her role in Paradise, marking the show's first Emmy win. Ernest Harden Jr. won best guest actor in a drama series for his work in The Pitt.
The Creative Arts Emmys took place over two days, with five categories that previously aired during the Primetime Emmys ceremony included this year. Sunday's awards were not televised live; both days' ceremonies will air together on Saturday, Sept. 12. The 78th Emmy Awards, hosted by Mariska Hargitay, will air live on NBC on Sept. 14.
