The 2026 Perseid meteor shower is expected to peak with as many as 50 to 100 meteors per hour as Earth's path crosses through debris left behind by Comet Swift-Tuttle. The display is anticipated to be more dazzling than usual, according to observers, because the peak coincides with a new moon.

The Perseids are easily visible and quite popular in the Northern Hemisphere during summer months. The best times for viewing the meteors are between midnight and pre-dawn, though no binoculars are required. A lawn chair and a dark sky location are recommended for optimal viewing.
