Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park Authority (TNBTS) has completely closed all tourism access to Mount Bromo beginning Saturday at 22:00 WIB to facilitate firefighting efforts in the area. The closure has been implemented for an indefinite period.

Head of the TNBTS Authority Rudijanta Tjahja Nugraha said the closure decision was based on current developments in the field, where flames in the Bromo Caldera area are expanding. The measure also takes into consideration visitor safety and security.

The access closure covers five Mount Bromo entrances spread across four regencies: Cemorolawang in Probolinggo Regency, Wonokitri in Pasuruan Regency, Jemplang and Coban Trisula in Malang Regency, and Senduro in Lumajang Regency. Tourists who have purchased tickets can reschedule or request refunds through the online booking application.

The forest fire, which began on Monday (3/8), has continued to spread due to strong winds. According to data from the TNBTS Authority, the affected area reached approximately 176 hectares by Friday (7/8) evening. Head of Implementation of Probolinggo Regency's Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Oemar Sjarief said that the combined firefighting team has managed to cut off the fire to prevent it from crossing certain routes, with all personnel remaining on high alert.
