Kit Connor has been reported to join the cast of Marvel Studios' X-Men reboot to play Scott Summers, also known as Cyclops. The casting was announced following director Jake Schreier and Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige conducting a series of screen tests, according to Deadline on Thursday (6 August).
Connor is the latest name to join the project, following the casting of Samara Weaving in the role of Emma Frost. Marvel and Connor's representatives have not yet provided an official response regarding this decision.
Cyclops is a cornerstone member of the mutant team since his first appearance in comics created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1963. The character is known for his distinctive energy beams from his eyes, which can only be controlled using a special visor. Before Connor, actor James Marsden played Scott Summers in the 2000s era and Tye Sheridan in the 2010s.
Marsden is confirmed to reprise his role as Cyclops in Avengers: Doomsday, scheduled for release in December 2026. The X-Men reboot under the Marvel Cinematic Universe has continued to show progress since Disney acquired 20th Century Fox in 2019. The project has been entrusted to Jake Schreier as director, with the screenplay written by Beef creator Lee Sung Jin and The Bear co-creator Joanna Calo.
Kit Connor's career has continued to flourish following his appearances in the series Heartstopper and the film Heartstopper Forever. The actor, born in 2004, has just completed the war film Warfare directed by Alex Garland and is involved in an adaptation project of the video game Elden Ring.
