PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) reported it has recovered 14,890 items left behind by passengers across its various operational areas with an estimated value of approximately 10.84 billion rupiah throughout the period of January to July 2026. Of this total, 10,795 were ordinary items, 3,371 were valuables, and 724 were food items.
KAI Vice President of Corporate Communication Anne Purba said that increased public mobility on weekends should be accompanied by greater attention to baggage, particularly for passengers travelling with family or carrying several items during their journey. Anne reminded passengers to check all their belongings before disembarking from the train or leaving the station area.
Valuables that have been secured by KAI staff include mobile phones, tablets, laptops, jewellery, cash, as well as electronic devices and other valuable personal items. KAI data showed that in July 2026 alone, 2,234 lost items were found, including 502 valuables with an estimated value of approximately 1.98 billion rupiah.
As of the end of July 2026, 7,066 items have been returned to their owners after going through KAI's Lost and Found service registration and verification process. Anne urged passengers to immediately report to Customer Service, Passenger Service, the conductor, or security staff if they realise they have left something behind, providing information such as the train name or number, travel route, train number and seat number, travel time, and descriptions of the item.
